Heliflug über dem Franz Josef Gletscher
Als wir heute am Franz Josef Gletscher ankamen war das Wetter herrlich und der Gletscher wolkenfrei. Diese Chance mussten wir nutzen und haben uns (relativ) spontan zu einem Helikopterflug über die angrenzenden Gletscher der Southern Alps entschieden. Uns wurde ein kleiner Familienbetrieb empfohlen, der die Tour deutlich günstiger als die üblichen Verdächtigen anbieten. Gesagt getan, eine halbe Stunde später saßen wir bei Jackie in der Küche und bekamen die Sicherheitseinweisung bei einer Tasse Kaffee. Ihr Mann sammelte die nächsten Passagiere ein und ihr Sohn war noch mit dem Heli “weg”. Zu hart. weitere 30 Minuten später landete DER Heli samt Sohn im Garten der Familie und Papa schüttete noch ein paar Literchen Sprit nach.
Was dann folgte war GE-NI-AL. Wir flogen tief über den 12km lnagen Gletscher und die angrenzenden Eiszungen um dann auf dem frisch gefallenen Schnee der letzten Nacht zu landen. Nach einer kurzen Schnellballschlacht ging der Flug nach 40 Minuten zurück ins Tal, wo der Rest der Familie schon wieder auf uns wartete.
Eine etwas obskure aber unvergessliche Tour.

Hallo zusammen,
es gab nun mehrere Nachfragen bzgl des Anbieters.
Ich konnte aufgrund der u.a. Routenkarte Start- und Landepunkt reproduzieren … und demzufolge sind wir mit Glacier Heliventures unterwegs gewesen!

Sieht sehr schön aus. Welchen GPS Tracker verwendest du? Genau wegen so einem Gletscherbesuch möchte ich da auch mal hin.
Wir möchten das im kommenden Dez/Jan auch machen.

Emphasising yet again the importance of having two, three or four email accounts.I have an email account for preasosionfl issues. I have an email for personal issues. I also have a throw away hotmail account that I have had for ten years. I use it to sign for loads of online web sites such as newspaper sites and sites like the NYT above. No one I know knows it so no one writes to em on it. So all the crap goes to it and most gets sucked up by the spam filter. I confirm subscription emails and check it once a month to keep it alive.

Deb, I must go and have a look at my dogwoods, I have never noticed any berries in the past, maybe I don’t have the correct varieties. My lonicera is a shrubby one, lonicera pileata which only grows about 3 ft and we grow it as a hedge, I had no idea that it had such gorgeous berries until I saw one of our blackbirds frantically feeding one autumn.
